Foreign Affairs Minister
Uri Rosenthal
The world is getting smaller. We holiday in exotic locations, and welcome foreign visitors to our country. Threats, such as cybercrime and terrorism, do not respect borders. The Netherlands is active in exporting goods abroad, but also imports goods that are unavailable here, such as raw materials. That is why my foreign policy focuses on global security, prosperity and freedom. This government is working for the Netherlands and its people.
Uri Rosenthal - My guiding principles:
Working on global security
I’m in favour of improving global stability and security to guarantee the security of the Netherlands. Cybercrime, piracy off the coast of Somalia, developments in the Arab world and the Middle East peace process all have an impact on security in our country.
Working on prosperity
I’m in favour of prosperity. So it’s important to support Dutch businesses in European and world markets. And to ensure that we can guarantee the supply of energy and raw materials.
Working on global freedom
I’m in favour of freedom. That means human rights, such as the freedom to access and use the internet and freedom to practice religion, and establishing the rule of law worldwide. This benefits us too, at home and abroad.
Working for Dutch citizens abroad
I’m in favour of helping Dutch citizens abroad who are confronted with natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. If you are affected, you can count on our embassies and consulates to come to your aid.
